Here's what you get...
No. 1 - PASCAL'S OTHER WAGER...AND OTHER ECCENTRICITIES
A $7.00 Value
Michel's first book, six outstanding effects, 32 pages.
Contents include:
Pascal's Other Wager
This is a card miracle you can perform anytime, anywhere, without a deck of cards. Nothing is written down. No gimmicks are required. No instant stooges, and no dual reality. This is an effect that simply relies on nothing more than an ordinary cellphone calculator and an Oscar-winning performance.
Psychometrus Interruptus
One of Michel's signature effects, this card revelation with a Bic lighter is an exceptionally strong piece of magic and leaves the spectator with an inexpensive souvenir to encourage tips or private bookings.
Diabolique
Aptly named, this is a truly diabolical thought of card revelation where the performer barely touches the cards with an unexpected kicker at the finish.
Estimation
Michel holds this one in reserve until that inevitable moment when someone says “I would never play cards with you” or suggests that they “head for the nearest casino.“ He then replies, “Let me show you why even my friends won’t play cards with me,” and proceeds to devastate them with a reveal of a selected card that has the patron convinced he has beaten the magician at his own game right up to the final moment.
Homage*
Michel originally set out to rework Paul Rosini's classic stunner, “Your Number — Your Card.” The result is an entertaining showpiece with a strong visual card revelation at the end. Get Michel's FREE Update - Homage Redux here (right click and choose "Save Link As").
Apocrypha
In this performance piece, Michel recreates the legendary showdown between San Francisco gamblers and Paul Rosini; who were intent on proving that Rosini was no where near as skilled with a deck of cards as everyone thought he was. The result is the discovery of a selected card under seemingly impossible conditions that will completely baffle laymen and magicians alike.
No. 2 - ENTERTAINING MISTER HENDERSON
A $7.00 Value
Michel's second book, six brilliant items, including a special, easy-to-construct gimmicked card, 47 pages.
Contents include:
ENTERTAINING MISTER HENDERSON
A variation of Joshua Jay’s “Out of Sight” with a regular, ungimmicked deck. A visually-impaired spectator in front of witnesses thinks of a card, shuffles and cuts the deck, and yet you find his card using a highly unique revelation. No forces. No pumping. No anagrams. Practically self-working.
SUBLIMINAL MARLO
Ed Marlo’s favorite effect involved no sleight of hand. In Khun Michel’s version, a subliminal message is planted in the spectator’s mind. He freely shuffles the deck and makes a variety of choices that eliminates all the cards except for one. When the spectator turns over that card, he will be amazed at how his subconscious dictated his every move.
PUBLIC SERVICE
Using some very simple sleight of hand, and presenting this 3-Card Monte routine as an expose, you can make mistakes or get caught out and still doesn’t matter. In the end, even the most astute spectator will be completely fooled.
BURN
“Burn” is a packet effect that replicates Las Vegas-style casino conditions. As the dealer, the spectator shuffles and deals the cards. As you play your four hands against his pair, you demonstrate your superior method of card counting in which you know what the next card in the dealer’s deck will make or break your any one of your four hands EVEN BEFORE IT IS DEALT! No marked or gimmicked cards. Self-working.
BRICard
A modification that takes the application of the Thick Card to a new level of appreciation.
POWER OF SUGGESTION
An effect using the BRICard that proves that men actually listen to their wives or girlfriends. After the woman loses a freely selects a card in the deck and offers the man a clue, the man has to go through the deck to find her card. When he fails twice after being told to rely on his own gut instinct, the man resorts to the woman’s clue and proves he had heard all along what she said in the first place. Variations without the use of a BRICard are provided.
No. 3 - THE LEGEND OF POKER ALICE
A $7.00 Value
Michel's third book, just released. Six more brilliant card items, including a new utility move (two versions). 38 pages.
Contents include:
THE LEGEND OF POKER ALICE
A dramatic Texas Hold ‘Em showdown in 1884 between “Poker” Alice Tubbs, the most famous woman gambler of the Wild West, and George Devol, the most notorious cheat of his time. Self-working. No sleights. No elaborate deck set-up.
THE QV CUT
Very possibly an original table cut that looks completely fair, with the spectator making some of the cuts. Two versions are offered—one for retaining the order of a stacked deck, another to return the deck to its original order. No sleights or deceptive moves.
RELLET
A mystifying and highly visual revelation of a predicted card using the QV Cut in which the audience dictates your every move. Self-working. No elaborate deck set-up.
TRIFECTA (+1)
You make a prediction and set it aside. While you are looking away, a man deals down any number of cards and sets one aside. A woman deals down a number of cards and sets one aside. Not only can you tell them what cards they chose but how many cards they dealt. Self-working. No sleights. No elaborate deck set-up.
INEXPLICABLE
A couple each randomly select two completely different cards only to discover there is more to their cards than meets the eye.
UNION CARD
You display your own personal magician’s union card laminated with your passport-size headshot. The union card can be examined and left in plain sight. When you’re ready to make your revelation, the spectator’s card magically appears in your photo. The effect is repeatable with as many different cards as you wish.
An $8.00 Value
Michel's fourth release offers more of his trademark card work along with forays into mentalism and fortune-telling. 47 pages.
ESOTERICA
Learn someone's birth date, birth stone, birth card, numerological number and the color of his aura in this mentalism/psychic effect where the methods do not depend on impression pads, center tears, pumping, progressive anagrams, pre-show or gimmicks. The effects are completely self-working, and every revelation can be verified on the Internet.
CICERONE
A hands-off, self-working, non-card routine in which five spectators each think of a domestic or imported beer. Based on any one of the spectators' five senses, the performer effortlessly reads their minds and correctly names what beer they're each thinking of. Khun Michel has also created a second, completely different version that is perfect for couples.
TOTALLY SCREWED
In this completely self-working miracle, a spectator selects a card and returns it to the deck totally out of the sight of the performer before he thoroughly shuffles the cards. After all that, the performer, without touching the deck, or even looking at it, can immediately name the spectator's card. This diabolical effect comes in two virtually impromptu versions that can be performed with any deck, anywhere, at any time.
PINK ELEPHANT
A potpourri of four items featuring two false cuts designed for stacked or memorized decks, a third and even more mystifying version of "Totally Screwed", and an offbeat mentalism script for revealing a spectator's thought of card.
GOOD VIBRATIONS
A spectator shuffles the deck. He mentally thinks of a card. He deals the cards face up, one at a time. When the impulse strikes him, he stops dealing and sets one card aside face down. He continues dealing through the cards until the deck is exhausted. His mentally thought of card is nowhere to be found. The previously set aside card is turned over and…….you can guess the rest.
JUST LIKE PIT
Using a shuffled deck, the performer and a spectator each mentally think of a card. The spectator uses every ounce of his intuition to freely cut the deck and sets aside the card he cut to. The performer does the same. The performer and the spectator then turn over their cards only to discover they have cut to each other's thought of card.
An $8.00 Value
Michel's fifth release features six strong, primarily card effects plus one terrific utility move. 42 pages.
APOCALYPSIS
The image of a spectator’s thought of card mysteriously appears in your empty hand. You don’t even need a deck of cards to perform this miracle.
PRIDMORE
An astounding three-part demonstration of deck memorization after the spectator legitimately shuffled and cut the deck.
A-LIST
A spectator is given a stack of Hollywood celebrity headshots, mentally chooses one and mixes up the photos. During the performance, the spectator gets to mix up the photos a second, even a third time and yet his mentally-chosen celebrity is miraculously revealed.
DESPERADOS
A unique reworking of Bob Hummer’s “Mathematical Monte” featuring the Wild West’s most famous outlaws.
HEART TO HEART
After the deck has been fairly shuffled, the spectator has full control as he makes a number of deliberate choices and yet his freely chosen card matches the performer’s prediction.
FLINCH
A spectator cuts off a small packet of cards, mentally thinks of a card, and shuffles the packet. Without looking at the faces of the cards, and with no questions asked, the performer almost instantly divines the card.
KELLY BOTTOM PLACEMENT SCOOP
The reintroduction and modest modification of Robin Robertson’s ingenious card sleight.
An $8.00 Value
In his sixth release, Michel Potts gives us six more spellbinding magic and mental card effects from his working repertoire. 31 pages.
HOBSON’S CHOICE
A spectator mentally thinks of a card. The performer places a card face down on the table. The spectator names out loud his card. The performer turns over the card to show it is the named card. No phishing, no anagrams, no questions of any kind are asked. Four versions are described.
DOUDECUPLE
After the spectator has made sure his selected card is lost in the deck, he deals the cards into a number of packets that he restacks in a random order. The performer is then given the cards and, without ever looking at their faces, he miraculously finds the spectator’s card. For the revelation, two versions are described.
COMPLIANCE
Two spectators each freely chose a card that is visibly buried in the middle of the deck. The performer turns over the deck to the spectators who each go on to find their own selected cards in a fair but astonishing manner.
CURRIED DICE
A spectator rolls three dice to arrive at a random number, which determines how many cards are used. The cards are mixed up, the spectator thinks of one and mixes up the cards again. Only after the spectator returns the cards to the deck and returns the deck to the box does the performer reveal the spectator’s card.
ESPial
Two spectators are given a packet of ESP cards, which they shuffle. Each spectator is fairly shown all the ESP cards and told to think of an ESP symbol. When the spectators later remove their mentally chosen symbol the packet, they will be amazed to find they both thought of the same symbol. Regular ESP cards are used.
FIN DE CHARLIER
A visual, deceptive finish for the Charlier False Shuffle.
With the exception of ESPial, all the effects can be performed with a regular deck of cards.
A $6.00 Value
In this seventh installment of Michel Potts' card magic series, he offers six more commercial effects - all well routined with the kind of engaging storylines that you've come to expect from him. Plus, he explains the easy-to-do Straddle Faro Shuffle. 36 pages.
Robstown Hustle
A gambling expose demonstrating the multiple techniques of card cheats in the game of Five Card Draw that seamlessly segues into a round of Texas Hold ‘Em in which, without any apparent cheating, a designated spectator receives the winning hand.
Totally Screwed Again
A spectator mentally selects a card and shuffles it into the deck, leaving the performer clueless as to where it could possibly be. Nevertheless, without pumping or even touching the deck, the performer correctly names the spectator’s card.
Rellet Reduxed
After the cards are shuffled and cut, a group of spectators participate in a paranormal exercise to divine the identity of the card that the performer has in mind.
Vaticination (featuring the QV III False Cut)
From a deck shuffled and cut by a spectator, a prediction based on that spectator’s psychological responses determines his personal card. A subsequent test of his own personality traits uncannily reveals the mate to his personal card.
Orthography (featuring the Cardinal Force)
A sealed envelope containing a premonition from days before is displayed. The cards are shuffled and cut. First, a spectator spells to a card. The cards are shuffled and cut again. Then another spectator choses any number up to 52 and takes a card at his number. The cards miraculously match, as foretold by the premonition.
Celebrity By Proxy
A variation of the Baby Gag effect with no gimmicked deck, no switches, no sleights, no gaffed cards and no prepared envelopes. You can even repeat the effect as many times as you want and the revelation will always be different.
A $7.00 Value
The latest release (No. 8) of Michel Potts' card magic series features seven more commercial items, including the Parallaxis stack (two effects), a subtle gaff that amps up a Dai Vernon classic (two versions), and much more. 38 pages.
Parallaxis
A diabolical stack reminiscent of the Koran Deck or Docc Hilford’s Cassandra Deck, but without any duplicate cards.
The Same Old Crap
A unique take on the classic 21-Card Trick that reveals the mentally thought of card on the first deal and produces that card in a thoroughly mystifying fashion.
Emotional Response
Dai Vernon’s famous card effect transformed into a minor miracle without ever once looking at the faces of the cards.
The Fateful Eight
A cleverly disguised self-working card trick that doesn’t use cards.
The Spelltacular Force
The legendary 10-20 Force redesigned to be far more deceptive.
The Stegnostic Index
The spectator genuinely makes a secret wish. Ten envelopes are introduced and one is randomly selected. The chosen envelope contains ten cards, each printed with a letter. Following a mixing and spelling procedure by the spectator, the letters become rearranged into a message that reveals if their secret desire has either been granted or postponed. Because there are ten different outcomes, the effect can immediately be performed with another spectator.
The Derivational Shuffle
An easy false shuffle that retains a stack.
A $7.00 Value
In this Michel Potts' release (No. 9), he puts away his deck of playing cards and directs his considerable professional experience and creative story-telling talents to bring you eight self-working close-up mental effects!
AUDIOSYNCRASY
Three spectators each mentally select a word from a list of 45 words. The first spectator disguises his selected word through verbally confusion. The second spectator mimes a bunch of possibilities. The third spectator says nothing, does nothing. Nevertheless, the mentalist correctly names what word each spectator has in mind. Complete with ready-to-print artwork!
THE ABECEDARIAN SHUFFLE
The spectator is presented with a stack of 50 film posters of which he freely sneaks a peek of a movie title before mixing up the entire stack. Without looking or even touching the posters, the mentalist immediately knows the movie title.
THE ABECEDARIAN MINUET
A stripped down, self-working version of The Abecedarian Shuffle in which the spectator becomes a movie star in his own mind. Again, without looking or even touching the posters, the mentalist immediately knows which movie the spectator has chosen to star in.
THE GALESBURG 5
A fun, self-working mentalism effect featuring the headshots of the 5 Marx Brothers that can be carried in a wallet and performed anytime, anywhere. Ready-to-print, playing card-size art included.
A PSYCHICAL BUILT FOR TWO
Armed with a standard packet of ESP cards and four dice, two spectators embark on a psychic quest only to discover an unintended spiritual consequence. No marked cards used.
ESPial
An ESP effect based on the James Stewart classic “Split Second” that can be presented as a standalone psychic routine for two people or as an opener for A Physical Built for Two.
TRUE GRID
A literal “spin” on an old classic.
ORIGASMIC
A pseudo-psychic examination involving an elaborate layout of 16 pre-shuffled cards which are randomly switched, realigned and reconfigured to determine if two spectators are truly in spiritual touch with each other.
Plus the MODIFIED PROPHESY TURNOVER.
A $7.00 Value
Michel Potts' 10th manuscript features eleven nearly self-working close-up mental effects that are perfect for those walk-around gigs where people are eating and drinking, and only have one hand free. No tables are required, nor does anyone have to shuffle, deal, or do much of anything other than lend one hand, or make some mental choices. All of the effects rely on subtle principles and most use printed artwork or blank cards with handwriting (only one of the tricks calls for regular playing cards). Sample artwork is even provided for several of the effects to get you started. 63 pages, illustrated.
