DESCRIPTION
Edward G. Brown's brilliant version of the classic "Everywhere and Nowhere" plot. All you require is a regular deck of cards and two glasses. No extra cards, no gimmicks, and this version requires no force! This is the effect that fooled Britain's leading magicians at Mr. Brown's Magic Circle Lecture in 1947.
A pack of cards is shuffled and placed in a glass with its face towards the audience. (It may be handed to a member of the audience to shuffle to place in the glass if you like.) With the glass on the table the performer removes the cards one at a time from the face of the pack, placing each one face down in his left hand as it is removed. The audience is invited to notice that the cards are thoroughly mixed and a spectator is requested to call "Stop" when he sees a card he particularly fancies. This card is shown, placed with the others in the left hand, and the rest of the pack removed from the glass and dropped on top. The pack is shuffled and then replaced in the glass, this time with its back to the audience.
The cards are once more removed one at a time and a spectator invited to call "Stop" when he thinks the chosen card is being removed. This card is placed in a second glass, still back to the audience, and another person is invited to have a guess and say "Stop" as the first one did. This card is also placed in the second glass and likewise a card chosen in the same way by a third spectator. The three cards are then taken from the glass and shown to be incorrect. The performer expresses his disappointment at the failure of the spectators and states that he will try to put the matter right. The three cards are again shown and each one proven to be the selected one! This of course is an absurd position as there is only one such card in the deck. Finally, the three cards are again shown to be indifferent ones and the selected card is removed from the performer's pocket.
In this new compilation, we include Bruce Postgate's coverage of Mr. Brown's Magic Circle presentation, Willane's Methods for Miracles manuscript No. 16 on the effect with Gus Southall's streamlined version, and Edw. Brown's original instructions. A wonderful routine for the intermediate to advanced worker. 13 pages with illustrations.
Also available...Edward Brown's Wandering Card from Willane's "Methods for Miracles" series.
