BONUS ITEM: WHO'S FOOLING WHO!
The illustrated notes from Hen Fetsch's 1950s performance/lecture which was packed with strong visual, easy-to-do magic. Please note, these notes have excellent illustrations, however the descriptions are more of an outline than a detailed explanation. Re-typeset, 6 pages.
THE MAGIC SPELL
“The Magic Spell” created a sensation when Hen Fetsch first released it in 1947. Here's the incredible effect: Any person mentally selects ANY card and then names aloud his selection. The magician skillfully gives the deck a single cut and then spells out the card. On the last letter, the card is turned over and is found to be the selected card! That’s all there is to it! No systems, mental calculations or memory work of any kind. Easy to do. Works with a regular deck. Sets up in minutes. 7 pages, illustrated, re-typeset.
IMPROMPTU CARD ROUTINE
In this 1950s manuscript, Hen Fetsch offers a thoughtfully-constructed, six-phase card routine that can be performed with a borrowed deck. Each effect blends into and sets up the handling for the next. Plus, the entire routine builds from a simple card discovery to a very strong climax with the revelation of four different audience selections. Hen Fetsch created this routine for magicians of all skill levels, so it's easy to do with no sleights. As a bonus, we've also included instructions for Fetsch's Flip Force. 9 pages, re-typeset. Image on cover is based upon a promotional photo Hen Fetsch used for booking his act.
PROFESSOR'S NIGHTMARE ROPE TRICK
There are precious few effects in magic which have been more universally accepted and performed than "Professor's Nightmare." Originated by the late Bob Carver of Macon, Georgia, and popularized by Hen Fetsch, with whom the effect is usually associated. The trick where three different size ropes all become the same size and then change back into unequal ropes again. If there is any weakness in the effect, it is the ending, which most magicians perform according to the standard method. Namely, they fold the ends and extract the ropes one at a time - showing them to be different sizes. In an effect, where the ropes visually change to be all the same length, why not change them back in a similar manner? Our handling enables you to just that - by transforming the ropes back into unequal lengths seemingly by just passing your hand over them.
If you already perform "The Professor's Nightmare," this variation only calls for a few modifications to the way you already do the trick and is no more difficult than the standard presentation. If you don't do "The Professor's Nightmare" yet, over two dozen photos make learning this routine with the improved climax a breeze. In addition, we've added in Don Lawton's very funny patter, which is sure to add laughs when you perform this classic effect. No special ropes are required and we explain how to quickly make up a set using your own magician's rope or any other soft cotton rope you may have on hand. Routine only, no rope supplied. If you perform for kids or families, this trick can't be beat. 7 pages.
BAND-IT CARD
Hen Fetsch's "Band-It Card" is a terrific visual card quickie that's also easy to do! From a shuffled pack of cards, a card is freely selected (and signed or initialed if desired). The card is then returned to the pack which is cut several times by the spectator and finally shuffled. The pack is firmly encircled with one or more rubber bands - and then the miracle happens! The spectator names his selected card and you place the pack behind your back or cover your hands with a handkerchief for an instant. When the spectator views the deck a moment later, the bottom card has vanished and in its place (in the still encircled pack) is the named card. The bands are removed and all cards placed in the spectator's hand who verifies the card as his initialed or signed selection. In addition to the original Band-It Card handling, you also get several variations including one where the signed card escapes completely from the tightly banded deck. In addition to the Band-It Card, the 5-page, illustrated instructions also explain how to make the very clever and effective Click Locator Card that you can use with other card tricks. Laymen love visual card magic, don't miss this one!
CHINATOWN QUARTER MAGIC
Ken Allen's Chinatown Quarter is one of the most baffling, yet easy-to-do coin transpositions ever conceived. Whether you already own a quarter, half dollar, or dollar-size Chinatown set or are just thinking about getting one, we're confident you'll find this Hen Fetsch booklet an excellent resource. It offers 7 routined effects, including: Chinatown Finale (a 4-coin assembly), Chinatown Flip, Chinatown Surprise, Chinatown Letter, Chinatown In-Out, Chinatown Buddha, and Chinatown Monte. 9 pages, re-typeset. This is a PDF booklet with instructions only, use your own Chinatown coin set.
MAGIC AT YOUR FINGERTIPS
Milbourne Christopher and "Hen" Fetsch teamed up on this booklet of 33 practical and tested effects. All are easy to perform with an emphasis on entertainment value. Contents are divided into five categories: Close-up Magic, Mental Magic, Card Magic, Silk Magic and Variety Magic. 46 pages, completely re-typeset, over two dozen illustrations.
50 TRICKS WITH A THUMB TIP
Written by Milbourne Christopher with Hen Fetsch in 1948, Dariel Fitzkee's review said, "It's the best book on thumb tip magic I've seen." Magic in this excellent compilation ranges from productions, vanishes, changes and restorations to thumb ties, spirit raps, billet work, a bank nite routine, and much more - all clearly explained in Christopher's breezy writing style. 32 pages, nicely illustrated, re-typeset and reformatted.
MINIATURE CARD MAGIC
After "Hen" Fetsch saw the popularity of an impromptu card gag he contributed to The Phoenix, he released this little booklet in 1943 offering a half dozen effects and gags with miniature cards. Note, these are NOT tricks with a miniature deck of cards, but rather ones that use a regular-size deck of cards along with a teeny, tiny playing card in some way! In this new ebook release, we even supply the ready-to-print miniature cards you'll need in two sizes, so there's nothing to make up or buy (although Magician's Wax is recommended for some of the effects). Fun, surprising and novel twists often make the most memorable magic. 9 pages, re-typeset, original illustrations plus new miniature playing card artwork.
