DESCRIPTION

In the early 1960s, Sam Berland released "Malini Outdone!" as a marketed effect. His method eliminated any sleight of hand and instead relied upon an easily constructed gimmick. Here's the original ad copy: Two cards are freely selected (not forced) and they are marked. The cards are returned to the deck and immediately given for shuffling. The shuffled deck is not touched by performer, but is held by spectator, while performer's eyes are blindfolded. The deck is now placed on the table and performer proceeds to spread cards. Taking a knife in each hand he plunges them among the cards and stabs each of the selected cards. No palming of any kind, no sleights, no crimped cards, yet safe, easy, and with showmanship can be a great trick. Use your own deck of cards. In our updated manuscript, we provide Berland's original illustrated instructions, as well as how to make up the special gimmick. 5 pages.
