3. THE SHELL
The shell can be palmed in either of these two positions and, further, its convex or concave sides can be against the palm or the fingers. With the convex side against the palm the shell can be palmed more easily than the ball because of its lighter weight, and when the concave side is innermost the edges of the shell afford a good grip.
