2. THE FINGER PALM

In this position the ball is held by bending the two middle fingers over it and pressing it against their roots. The first and fourth fingers take no part in holding the ball but are kept close to the sides of the other fingers to prevent any glimpse of the ball being held between the fingers, and their top joints are extended slightly (Fig. 2). This is a very easy and useful palm and it enables one to hold two balls hidden in the hand at the same time, one in the regular palm and the other in the finger palm.

To carry the ball to the finger palm, roll it with the thumb from its position between the thumb and first finger to the roots of the two middle fingers, and bend them over it. To bring it to the same position from the regular palm, simply lower the hand, bend the middle fingers, and let the ball roll into them. Finally, to bring the ball from the finger palm to the ordinary palm, bend the middle fingers in a little more and press the ball into the desired position.

These are the only two positions of practical use for holding a ball concealed in the hand.
