In this case you hold the substitute coin in the regular palm in the right hand and you receive the marked coin in the same hand. In the action of apparently placing this coin in the left hand, thumb palm it and let the substitute coin fall from the palm of the right hand into the left. The change can be made by using the regular palm, but the action is more difficult and there is no compensating advantage to be gained by using it.
