1. THE THUMB GRIP
The ball is held by clipping a small part of the surface in the fork at the base of the thumb (Fig. 1).
To place it in this position, hold the ball between the first joints of the forefinger and thumb; bend the forefinger, bringing its tip against the top of the ball; and push it into the fork of the thumb, gripping it there by pressing the lower joint of the thumb against it. Immediately afterward extend the thumb to its former position.
