3. TRANSFER OF THE BALL FROM ONE HAND TO THE OTHER, USING BOTH SIDES OF THE HANDS
Stand facing the audience, the hands at the height of the chin, the backs to the front, the fingers separated pointing upwards, the little fingers about six inches apart and about a foot in front of the face (Fig. 21).

To place the ball on the back of the left hand so that the palms of the hands can be shown, bring the hands together, one against the other, with the left hand partly in front so that the palmed ball is applied to the hollow which lies below the back of the left thumb fork between the tendons of the thumb and first finger; hold it at this spot with the tip of the right thumb. Separate the hands, the palms now to the front, by the length of the right thumb and place the tip of the left thumb in the fork of the right thumb (Fig. 22).

To pass the ball back to the palm of the right hand, incline the hands toward one another; turn the right hand a little in advance of the left; and bring it down to take the ball, supported by the thumb up to that moment, in its palm. Then turn the hands on one another, bringing their backs to the front, and move them apart to their original positions. The move can be repeated. It should be done rather quickly and without dwelling on the position when the palms are to the front.
Properly done the sleight is a good one with golf balls; but unfortunately many operators use it with billiard balls, with the inevitable result that the spectators on the sides see the ball.
