2. THE MULTIPLYING CIGARETTES
Effect. The successive production of a number of cigarettes from one hand.
Method. Two cigarettes are necessary. Hold one in the right hand in the finger palm and the other, which has been slightly shortened, in the left hand, lying along the junction of the second and third fingers; the hand is palm upwards and the fingers pressed together in the shape of a cone and bent at the first joints only, sloping a little to the right (Fig. 16).
Push the cigarette up with the left thumb to its full length and pretend to take it with the right hand; in reality allow it to drop behind the left fingers under cover of the right hand, which then shows the duplicate cigarette. Place this apparently in the coat pocket, or in a receptacle; but really take it again in the thumb palm. Repeat the procedure as many times as desired.
