4. THE PRODUCTION OF EIGHTS BALLS

The directions already given for the production of eight billiard balls in the two hands (see page 108) apply equally to golf balls, and will be found comparatively easy to do. Once the various sleights and passes have been mastered, the operator will find it an intriguing study to workout combinations of manipulations and productions to suit his own ideas. One warning must he sounded and this applies to the manipulation of all small objects. The one fault common to many performers is that of holding the hands too close to the body, with the result that when a turn to either side is made the article in use is completely hidden from the spectators. Of course, under these conditions you can do some wonderful moves; but they will be wonderful to yourself alone. Hold the hands well away from the body and make sure that everyone can see the effect of every move. Use rather deliberate actions and beware of fast moves; you can easily confuse the spectators. It is quite another thing to make your passes so smoothly and naturally that they will appear to be genuine.
