Tricks with folding money are popular with both audiences and magicians. The magician likes them because they provide for some amazing effects which require but little preparation and no cumbersome apparatus and, human nature being what it is, the spectators enjoy the discomfiture of the confiding individual who lends his money to the magician only to see it torn to pieces or burned. However, the confidence of the lender is justified, for in the end he gets his property back undamaged. It is necessary to consider, first, the sleights peculiar to the manipulation of bills; then various subtleties in the preparation of duplicate bills, envelopes, lemons, oranges, etc.; and, finally a selection of the best bill tricks.
