DESCRIPTION

Don Lawton did it "all" in magic! In the early 1950s, Lawton was one of the first magicians to perform magic on live TV and in commercials. His success earned him a steady stream of sponsored shows for The Old Judge Coffee Company, later becoming a corporate magician for Falstaff Beer. He was also a busy school and club show performer in and around the St. Louis area, where he also worked as a magic shop demonstrator for several shops, and dealer in his own right. In the later part of his life, Lawton moved to California and became the Magic Castle host and manager, a title he held for nearly 20 years. Awarded the 1970 "Stage Magician of the Year" by the Academy of Magical Arts, Lawton was a master at using various gags and bits of business, along with tongue-in-cheek humor, to thoroughly entertain his audiences with standard magic effects and props. In this circa mid-1960s set of lecture notes, Lawton generously shares his entire act (which never really changed) along with advice on working with audience helpers, booking and managing shows, etc. 18 pages, re-typeset.
