A Prediction from Bombay marries two classic mental card magic concepts, Paul Curry's unresolved Open Prediction and Eddie Joseph’s Bombay, into one seamless presentation. The result is a routine which draws upon elements of Bombay’s two-deck presentation to give the effect a new framework and a strong, visual ending that is as clean and hands-off as the effect itself. Imagine this, if you will. Two decks are introduced – one red, one blue. A spectator selects one of the decks and freely shuffles it. You remove a card from the other deck to serve as your prediction. This card, say the “Four of Hearts,” is placed face up on the table for all to see. You now have the spectator deal the cards from his deck, one at a time, face up onto the table; while watching for the card you predicted. At any point during this process, he places a card – ANY CARD of his choosing – face down on the other deck. This card is then fairly and openly cut to the middle of the pack; which is left in full view. The spectator finishes dealing out the rest of his cards face up – still watching for the predicted card which never appears. Without any false moves, the other deck is now ribbon spread on the table. There is one card (and one card only) with a different back color in the middle of the spread. The spectator removes this card and turns it over. It is the “Four of Hearts,” as predicted. As impossible as it seems, the handling really is just that smooth!
